Days 6 and 7
Ivan's digestive system is beginning to crank up, but more slowly than everyone had hoped, so looks like he'll be in the hospital another couple of days. It's a week so far, feels much longer! Battling relentless hiccups, sipping broth and apple juice, reminiscing with Michael, advising his doctors on medication, Ivan's worn down--but holding up.

Ivan dear,
I have been worried but the prognosis sounds truly good - even if the recovery feels interminable! Knowing you, you still have your humor (and Michael- thank god!)along with the hiccups - nasty things! My method has always worked but is a little weird - (with fingers, plug both ears and have someone else pour water/liquid down the throat - probably strenuous for you right now, eh?)It has always worked for me and the girls.
We all have you in our hearts and thoughts. Sending love. Sleep, rest, see you soon = maybe even for roast chicken and mashed potatoes I hope.
